Coffee is a must for some.

Let's just say that Jake and Rachel are less than enthused about my "Buddy the Elf" attitude this morning. I didn't understand why they weren't as excited as I was to ride 300 miles at 40 miles per hour. Then I had an epiphany/ Rachel forcefully told me to stop smiling since she couldn't deal with my excitement before her morning coffee. I continued to smile /annoy both of my comrades until they satisfied their caffeine addiction. Luckily this was sooner than later because I probably wouldn't have made it very far before I got hurt by one of them. Moral of the story... Jake and Rachel have a Caffeine addiction and my morning attitude did not support. ~Justin

Day Two: Success

We made it to our destination in VA (at the start of Blue Ridge Parkway) right on time. There were some sketchy things on the road like idiot drivers and pieces of tires, but we made it with smiling faces. I was trying to think of a way to describe this sort of fun and so far the best thing I can think to compare to this is when you are a kid at the beach and the water is so icy cold your lips turn blue and you are shivering, but you don't even notice because you are so full of joy. We are all a little sore, but NOTHING compared to what I thought it was going to be like. It basically just feels like my butt is full of wet sand.

We have seen some neat things along the way, a really old harley, a lot of deer hanging out right next to the highway eating grass, a hot air balloon, a really cool hawk other various animals, and a TON of truckers. A lot of them wave when we pass by. I even fell asleep for a little bit. Another cool thing is that motorcycles on the other side of the highway will wave as they "pass" by!

I am loving the chatterboxes, we spent most of today figuring them out. It's great to be able to talk to Jake along the way but also be able to listen to books (I'm listening to the Help and Hunger Games) and music. Jake and I also figured out how to share our Bluetooth connections when we get sick of what we are listening to. I'm still trying to work out calling Justin from my headset and actually being able to hear him, so right now, hand signals have been pretty much our means of communication on that end.

I can not wait to see what tomorrow brings! For those of you who don't know, if you text the word "poop" to either me or Justin, it will turn on our phones' gps signals and send you back a text with our location. It's actually pretty accurate and more reliable than us remembering to call. It was funny to look at our phones (we do get the text that says "poop") we stopped and realize how many and how often people were thinking of us!

Lunch at Cracker Barrel

So we are about 250 miles from our destination :). Everyone is still smiling and having an awesome time. I don't know if there is a way to describe how much fun this is! I'll get more details out about the things we are seeing later...Sorry to the people in the bet pool who had Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsyvania. I'm still a happy girl...

Day one: Success

Well we made it! I would have posted last night but the blog wasn't working. Surprisingly enough, we made it to massachusetts with all smiles. Aside from being a little chilled, we were all doing great. I'm shocked (and thrilled) that I'm not even the slightest bit sore today. Justin is walking around with a huge grin on his face as usual, and since we haven't had coffee yet, Jake is grumpy. We are headed to Virginia in about a half hour...more to come when we stop! :)

Departure Day

The day is finally here!  I don't know if there is a word that adequately describes how I am feeling about this trip.  I'm excited, nervous, and anxious to get started and all this wraps up into one obnoxious package that has led me to be even more of a chatterbox today. The most paramount detail of all of this is how awesome this experience is going to be. Not just because it will give Jake and I an adventure to share forever, but now that Justin is joining us for part of the way, its going to be a whole new (and wonderful) dynamic.  I absolutely cannot wait to get on the road tonight. I've given the boys (Jake and Justin) the login information to the blog, so hopefully you will get to hear the persepctive of all three of us along the way.

With the exception of some last minute things to take care of at the house we are all ready to go.  The gear is packed and there is no backing out now! Tonight we are headed down to Jake's parent's house in Mass (about a 4 hour ride).  I will try and update the blog as soon as we get there to give an update on how everyone is doing.  Here's to hoping all of our cold weather gear does its job!

With that all said, I dont know how many more "before" and "during" pictures I'll be able to post along the way, but I'll try and get as many on here as possible.

T-minus three days...

Our departure is set...6:00pm EST on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Our gear is packed, bike is ready, and route is mapped out. All that's left is to get really excited! A big thanks to all of our friends who have helped get everything in order!
