I never would have thought that such an adventure would be a test of patience. The past couple of weeks have a been a blur planning for the execution of this trip. Now that it's only a week away, it seems like everyone in the house has PMS (Pre-Motorycle Syndrome). Jake's grumpy, I'm grumpy, Rupert (our dog) doesen't want to play with us, and even the cat wont come out from underneath the bed. The only thing that has remained consistent is the puppy (believe or not). For some reason we have started arguing about things like the proper adhesive for the new grips on the bike, the slippery seat, whether or not I can feed a bear cub crackers, where Hawaii is EXACTLY, and how the hot chocolate tastes from the new Keurig.
Despite all of the tension and nerves, we go to bed at night laughing at ourselves and each day the trip is getting more and more excting. We even have a new addition to the ride (our friend Justin), who will be coming with us as far as Deal's Gap on his Honda F4i.
So, we have new gear, new saddlebags, chatterboxes, a GPS and various other motorcycle accessories. We have yet to install everything. Now all of the little stuff will come into play like the clothes we intend to bring, a first aid and survival kit, and snacks. I will try and get pictures of all of our gear and vessel out a few days before the trip in a "farewell" blog.
I'm kind of looking forward to seeing who is the most sore after day one...

Trip Plans
So its settled. Jake and I are slowly planning out the trip we are supposed to leave for on October 6, 2011. Just so everyone is clear, we are planning on doing this on an Interceptor.
My office has graciously agreed to put a poll together to decide in which state I'm going to have my first "meltdown". I've attached the estimated route with our key visiting points: Deal's Gap, Austin, TX, the Grand Canyon, and San Diego. I'm personally betting on Tennesse but if I make it all the way to San Diego without me stomping my feet and begging to come home, I get all the money :D.
To date, we don't have a bike. The question of the bike has now turned to a most elementary detail : a Black Bike, or a Red White and Blue Bike. I can already sense the spat brewing over this due to the fact that Jake likes the Red, White, and Blue option, and naturally, because I'm a woman, I like the complete opposite.
Aside from all of this, tomorrow is my 27th birthday (coincidently when we are supposed to purchase the bike). What an amazing gift from Jake this year: An adventure the two of us will share forever!
